Wants ya ya ya ya
The heart wants what it wants. So do the credit card companies, the mortgage bank, the insurance company, the tax man, and three year olds at the mall. What you want and what you get, now that's the rubbery end of the biscuit isn't it? I'd like to jump the bones of Captain Jack Harkness. Or Captain Jack Sparrow for that matter. But what I'm going to get is a drive around the NASCAR Beltway home and the prospect that my dental bills have eaten up the money that's supposed to pay the other bills sitting at home on the desk. Ain't that the way of it? |

Grown
Tonight You are still beautiful. The darkness that you ran to Has touched you. It shows in your eyes The corners of your mouth. But You are still beautiful. You lay On the chaise before the fire. We drink overpriced wine We do not speak. Neither of us is the same We are sad to find out. Where will we drift? Is our rice paper cocoon Still worth holding us? I don’t want to leave I want to nestle beneath your chin Anticipate the afterglow of A different fire. We regret Time has made us Different embers from those Lit beneath a summer sun. We’ve watched the miles pass The windows of our car They will never come back. We lay on leather in a house Our names on the deed. Regrets and eagerness burning. No one ever warned us of becoming Grown. 2/17/2008 |
